Is CBD Flower More Effective?

Are you struggling to relax? Maybe you’re persistently exhausted, maybe you’re suffering from inflammation or chronic pain, or maybe your racing thoughts are making it difficult to sleep.

If medication and meditation aren’t helping you relax, consider trying something different. While only one specific form of CBD has been FDA-approved to treat seizures, many people use CBD recreationally to ease their nerves, reduce symptoms of chronic pain, and make falling asleep easier.

There are a variety of different ways to consume CBD, but if you’re thinking about smoking CBD flower, there are a few things you should know.

Relaxing with CBD Flower

If you’re new to CBD, here’s a quick reminder: CBD is not THC. Both are cannabinoids, or compounds, found in hemp and marijuana, but their molecular differences mean they have different effects on the body.

Another note: CBD is different from Delta-8, too. Check out our post about the difference between Delta-8, 9, and 10 here.

The Benefits of Smoking CBD

CBD flower offers the pain and stress-relieving benefits of THC—without the risk of the anxious, paranoid feelings some experience when smoking. Research is still evolving, but many people have reported finding relief from chronic pain, inflammation, and anxiety with CBD.

Smoking CBD flower may also help reduce symptoms associated with multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and arthritis pain. As a stress reducer, many people have also found smoking CBD helps with cigarette addiction, calming their nerves while helping them avoid nicotine.

Is Smoking CBD Better Than Other Consumption Methods?

From CBD edibles to water soluble CBD, there are plenty of ways to find the relief you’re seeking; however, smoking CBD flower does offer some advantages over other consumption methods.

If you’re looking for fast and immediate results, smoking or vaping will provide quick relief. Especially when compared to edible CBD, which can take an hour or two to produce effects, smoking allows CBD to enter your bloodstream almost instantly.

If you’re looking for stronger results, smoking CBD may also deliver. Bioavailability is a measure of the degree and rate at which CBD is delivered to your bloodstream; the higher the bioavailability, the stronger the effects. Smoked or vaped CBD has a mid-rage bioavailability at 34–46%. Compare that to the bioavailability of edibles—believed to be around 4–20%—and you’ll know which method to use for more potent relief.

Smoking CBD also won’t produce red eyes, dry mouth, intense hunger, and difficulty reacting. However, keep in mind that smoking anything carries a risk of respiratory issues. Do your research, talk to your doctor, and weigh your options before deciding to smoke CBD.
