One Important Difference.

CBD and THC both come from the cannabis plant, so what’s the difference?

Both #CBD and #THC have the exact same molecular structure: 21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms, and 2 oxygen atoms. A slight difference in how the atoms are arranged accounts for the differing effects on your body.  There is one important difference. Where THC contains a cyclic ring, CBD contains a hydroxyl group. It is this seemingly small difference in molecular structure that gives the two compounds entirely different pharmacological properties and it's the one difference you will come to learn and feel the most.

Both CBD and THC are chemically similar to your body’s own #endocannabinoids. This allows them to interact with your cannabinoid receptors and is the reason CBD products work.

The interaction affects the release of neurotransmitters in your brain. Neurotransmitters are chemicals responsible for relaying messages between cells and have roles in #pain, immune function, stress, #sleep, to name a few.

Let's examine how they are the same. The two, CBD and THC, have been fairly well accepted in the medical #community. The #wellness benefits that are people are experiencing from CBD are becoming documented and researched, this is in large part due to medical marijuana.

#Holistic healers and some doctors around the world have been using marijuana for generations among generations. Many strains of marijuana are now known for the high amounts of THC and related benefits. While high-CBD strains were previously less common, a new age of “hemp” has produced higher and higher potency strains. And now, the medical community among others, have turned their attention to CBD (and related cannabinoids like CBG and CBN). Why? Well because CBD can provide many of the same reliefs that marijuana can, but without THE HIGH.

The health benefits.

Both CBD and THC have many roles they can play; this is different for each individual. For now, we know many more studies are needed and we see this happening all the time to show what CBD can do. If you have questions on what might work best for your concerns, stop in and see us or contact us for further support.

One more difference.

Although THC can have advantages, it does have one more difference that many are not comfortable with; it's "high." This is a turn off and is also limiting for daily activity. It is also why there are legality and prescription concerns. CBD, however, has all of the same therapeutic effects but without the psychoactive property of THC.

Another consideration: Marijuana products are known to cause paranoia in some users. Additionally, users will often report that THC often makes them feel drowsy or sleepy. CBD can promote wakefulness and an alert state of mind. So while it's "one" difference, the potentials are much different!
